The Brief

Marlow Residence is a building of eighteen apartments a few streets from the beach. The brief was for interiors that felt considered and permanent, not like a display suite.

The Plan

Every kitchen is built as one wall of walnut joinery, with the ovens, fridge and open shelves set into it. A round dining table sits beside the kitchen, so cooking and eating share the same corner, and the living room keeps to the window and the light.

Materials and Finish

Dark walnut, soft white cabinetry and a speckled grey stone splashback. A slatted timber console and sheer blinds bring texture to the living room, and each apartment has room for a few pieces of art.

Living in It

The rooms are quiet and easy to keep tidy, with a place for everything behind the joinery. Late afternoon light filters through the blinds and catches the walnut, which is when the apartments look their best.
